Investment Real Estate Division
What we own, where we buy, and what we lend against
Who This Page Is For
Brokers and owners with income-producing property in the markets we follow, and the banks and lenders we work with on the financing side.
We buy for our own account. The equity is the firm's and the family trusts', so a decision does not have to travel: there is no fund to raise and no outside investors to poll. When we borrow, we do it in the ordinary way — a mortgage from a bank or an institutional lender against a specific property.
What we do not do is take outside money into our real estate ventures. If you are looking to invest alongside us in a property, this is not that division.
What We Buy
Commercial
Office, retail and industrial property with established tenants and a stable income stream.
Residential
Multifamily property and residential development in markets where supply is genuinely constrained.
Mixed-use
Integrated developments combining residential, commercial and retail components.
Mortgage Lending
As well as buying property, the division writes mortgages. Where a property is of a type we understand well and would be comfortable owning, we will lend against it rather than buy it.
These are structured to earn current income from the loan and, in many cases, a participation in the property's future value. That combination is what makes the lending side worth doing for us: it behaves like an income position, with some of the upside of ownership, on a property we would have been willing to own outright.
We lend selectively and on property types that appeal to us, so the honest answer to “would you look at this one?” is that it depends on the asset. It costs nothing to ask.
